Our ‘Thoughtful Thursday” programme was well received again by our pupils and staff in 2017. Our school outreach programme started with our pupils donating towards St Francis Animal Rescue. This organisation plays a key role in caring for animals in our local township, Sea Vista. We collected dry dog and cat food and each grade were given an opportunity to visit their Thursday outreach in the township where they learnt about what the rescue organisation does and how important sterilisation of animals in this environment.

In term two we split our donations and assisted St Francis United Church and Talhado Nursery school. Non perishable goods were collected weekly and were distributed accordingly. We were proud to be part of feeding the less fortunate in our township and will certainly continue with this in 2018.

Our third term focussed on Ukupha’s baby boxes where our pupils were requested to bring items that make up boxes for moms and their newborn babies in Sea Vista. Donations of cotton wool, baby wipes, nappies and surgical spirits were collected and handed over to the Ukupha members. The pupils were also given the task of knitting squares which were then sewn together to make up blankets. Many grannies, mommies and children enthusiastically knitted during this period and we would like to thank everyone who was involved.

Our Thoughtful Thursday programme has carried on into 2018 but without the generous and enthusiastic spirit of the pupils, staff and parents, we would not be as successful! Thank you to everyone for their continued support!
