Eco Club and Adventure ClubAdventure sports have been taking place for the past few weeks on a Wednesday afternoon. The children have done some hiking, paddling on the dam and some trail cycling. While out walking and riding in the veld there is always the possibility of seeing some wildlife – so far we have seen some springbuck, some duikers, a tortoise and lots of birds. The children are thoroughly enjoying the fresh air of our beautiful environment. |

Mini Cricket FestivalTwo teams of grade 2 and 3 boys and girls participated in a Mini Cricket Festival. They were accompanied by Mr Fortuin and Mr Boonzaier. The children had a load of fun while learning how to play cricket. |

Grade 3 outingThe grade 3 pupils learnt about The Estuary, one of the most productive Ecosystems in the world with Mr. Harry Bateman.

Nursery School News (Mrs. Lonsdale)We are marching through the first term of 2020 and all the children are happily in the routine of their mornings at the Nursery School. Teacher Cath and myself have finished doing up the fantasy playroom in the butterfly class, (also known as the fairy room by the children). It has been a wonderful success and a much loved area for the children to express themselves in. Dates to diarise Outing to The Cove on Wednesday 26th February. [Weather permitting] Shapes and Colours outing at the Links on Tuesday 7th April. Letters regarding these outings will be sent out. Please make sure you return the indemnity forms, as we have to have these with us at the outing. Reminders Please could all the children have a change of clothes in their school bag each day. This is so important if they have an accident, get wet or dirty. Children prefer to have their own clothes to change into. We would like to thank everyone for all the donations of the cat and dog food for Thoughtful Thursday. I know this is much appreciated by the St Francis Animal Rescue and helps so many hungry dogs and cats. Music News - Mrs. BrownOn Wednesday, 5 February the senior choir children were treated to an outing to the Feather Market in PE. They hosted an open day for schools and over 1800 children attended this function. It was a great eye-opener for most kids who have never seen such a beautiful theatre, and off course – the BIG organ! Professor Troskie gave a demonstration of how the organ works, which was very fascinating, and played famous tunes which the children recognised, like Ode to Joy from Beethoven. The children were also treated to a brass ensemble and learned about the various type of wind instruments, from trombones, trumpets to tubas. It was a great honour to be part of this experience and I’m hoping this will continue each year. Thank you to Caroline Anderson who helped with lifting and assisted with the children. Also a big thank you to Helen and Kim who also made it possible by lifting children. |

Farewell to the CowniesSadly, we have had to bid farewell to the Cownie family who are moving to Australia. Peter and Skye and the four children - Emily, Christopher, Chloe and Gabby - have been a vibrant component of the school for the past four years. We are going to miss them. We trust that their move will be an exciting adventure for them and we look forward to seeing them all again in December when they come back on holiday. |

News from the school garden - Mrs MillerThis week we cut spekboom branches and planted them in containers. The new seedling area was stocked with seed trays and tools. We are looking forward to erecting our greenhouse sponsored by the Blom family. |
