Grade 1 Remote Learning (Mrs. Webb)
The grade 1s launched into remote learning with enthusiasm and total commitment. They kept to their 'Google meet' times every day and always participated politely and diligently, whether in small groups, or the class as a whole. Their manners were impeccable, always waiting their turn and giving others a chance to shine. This enabled us to cover new concepts as well as consolidate previous work. I was particularly impressed by their 'toy cameras' which they made solely after watching a demonstration by the teacher online. Grade 1s, you made me so proud and I am privileged to be your teacher!

Grade 0 News (Mrs. Eva Skelton)
As another term comes to an end we look back at our achievements with a grateful heart. Despite the chaos of the world, our little warriors have soldiered on, oblivious to the forces challenging the earth at this time. Our busy bees have been busier than ever! The second term is always full of excitement and learning wonder for the children in the Grade 0 class. The children have enjoyed lots of interesting themes including Africa, inspired by Africa day, which led to the very enjoyable performance held by our local and very talented marimba band. We also enjoyed celebrating “our oceans” which was completed with a trip to our local beach. As well as our fun theme on transport, where the children were invited to bring their bikes to school to enjoy a ride with their friends. We have been very busy in our class garden growing plants from seed, which have blossomed into beautiful flowers and experimenting with herbs and veggies. We have loved creating many a piece of art and I don’t think there is day when the children have not gone home with a little bit of paint upon their sleeve, or some playground grit beneath their nails. That is certainly a sign of a happy child! Happy holidays everyone - you deserve it! Teacher Eva Grade 0

A day in the life of a Grade 00 learner (Miss. Elizabeth Carpenter)
Move over American Swiss! Hungry? Need a charming accessory? The amazing grade 00 children might just have the answer!
These images illustrate the grade 00 children creating their very own personalized and edible jewelry. Making these dazzling creations helped to hone their fine-motor-skills, gave a boost to their day and provided to be a tasty treat!
After rave reviews, and much discussion, we have decided to let you in on the secret formula!
You will need: -Coloured loop cereal -Pipe cleaners -A can-do attitude -A love for the latest trends.
To create one of these gorgeous trinkets, create a loop out of a pipe cleaner and carefully thread the cereal through.
A fantastically fruity way to start the day! Teacher Elizabeth Grade 00

MUSIC NEWS (Mrs. Brown)

I never thought we would actually get to film our 2021 talent show. It seemed that so many obstacles were in our way that prevented us from having the show, but thankfully, we did it! And what a success it was! I received over 60 entries. Our categories were Art, Photography, Lego, Dance, Singing, Magic, Drama, Hoola Hoop, Jokes to name a few. It was lovely to see all the wonderful talent! A huge thank you to Dirk and Sian Harding who gave up their time to film the show. It was a bitterly cold day, but they managed to run the show very professionally. We were able to make use of the barn, thanks to The Parkers, which gave it a real Barnyard Theatre look. We had two judges, (ex-parents of our school), who I would like to thank - Simon Cunneen and Cathryn Hempel. They were fair in selecting the winner of each category. Last but not least, I would like to thank all our sponsors who kindly donated gifts for the children. Although it wasn’t a competition (more an encouragement for children to have fun and gain stage confidence), I feel it’s important that each child received a token of appreciation. Below is the list of sponsors who donated kindly. It is always much appreciated. The fantastic video will be made available to anyone who would like a copy. Thanks again to Dirk and Sian Harding for making this possible. Please contact me if you would like a copy. Enjoy the holiday time and see you in term 3. Natasha Brown

From the Judges - Simon Cunneen
"Myself and Cathryn felt most privileged to have had the opportunity to judge the Talent Show for the College. The level of the talent displayed and the performances that we saw were outstanding and this alone made it all the more difficult to come to making some difficult decisions about the winners and the runners-up. In our eyes, everyone who took part was a winner and should be proud of what they achieved on the day. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all those students who performed and presented their exceptional talents, including of course, the visual arts and lego engineering! Our thanks to the College for allowing us the opportunity to be part of the special day and to all those, parents and teaching staff included, who made it all happen." Simon Cunneen

News from the school garden
In the few short weeks since the last newsletter, the school garden has been transformed and given a much deserved green-fingered face lift! We are very happy to announce that the school now has it's own outdoor classroom, which, by the time the sun warms up and the days get longer, will provide the best possible space for our children to work at their best, which is in nature. The garden shed has also been revamped and now efficiently houses all things 'garden-wise'. We would like to extend a huge thank you to those involved to make this a reality: Rowan Better for sponsoring the paving, Cheron Kraak for donating the building wood, Grace Kennedy for donating her carport and the Kromme Trust, especially Warren Manser, for always helping out where needed. The children have also been busy, harvesting greens every week for both DeNude and the Coastal Collective, working hard on their competition gardens (the judging will take place after the holidays, so watch this space!) and learning how to give back to their garden and the soil by making the perfect compost heap (thanks Karen). The day to day activities in the garden have been made a huge amount easier by the fabulous donation of watering cans and garden scissors (thank you Louise de Lange) Our wish list focuses on things that you may have lying around the house collecting dust, or ready for the garbage can - so please think of the garden before tossing out any the following: toilet roll inners, tin cans, plastic bottle tops, egg boxes and newspaper, any old paint, bricks, stones and pavers, any other garden equipment. Thanks to all who make this school garden such a happy place for all to grow, and here's looking to spring! Saskia & Chio
