This week Sunday we plan to spearhead this initiative of making change, creating awareness and encouraging an actual clean up. We will have a special Eco-kids section (ages 2-12) which will provide the kids with a lesson on marine pollution and recycling. This lesson will cost R50 per child as per our usual Eco-Kids rate. This is to cover costs of the lesson and handouts for the kids, and to generate some income to sustain our program. The kids are always provided with learning materials, some drinks and snacks after their outing. For those of those that don’t want to join or pay, can be part of the main event and cleanup for free! They will be included in the prize giving.
For everyone that arrives we provide a litter bag (or two) and disposable gloves if wanted, we will show them which bit of coast needs them. At 12 we regroup at the penguins for a photographs with our piles of rubbish.
Sign up a St Francis College TEAM and win some prizes!! There will be a team prize and an individual prize for the amount collected, and a special prize for the strangest item found. All the items collected will be documented and sent in to the International Coastal Cleanup Day information centre where they will collate the information and use it as research.
There will be Boerie rolls and cold drinks on sale to refresh everyone after their efforts. Everyone will be encouraged to bring a chair and join the picnic – it will be fun. Let’s turn the tide on trash!
Look forward to hearing from you. Feel free to call if you have any queries.
Best regards
